About Us
The National Alliance of Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds (Alliance) was established in 1989 as a membership organization to provide training, technical assistance and peer consulting opportunities to our nation’s Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds and to strengthen their efforts to prevent child abuse. The Alliance also focuses on promoting and supporting a system of services, laws, practices and attitudes that strengthen families’ capacity to provide their children with safe, healthy and nurturing childhoods. Collectively, Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds distribute more than $100,000,000 each year in to fund thousands of community-based programs, trainings, public awareness campaigns and related family strengthening strategies. They have a tremendous ability to shape their state’s prevention agendas, promote new prevention concepts, disseminate critical information and research findings and ensure that proven effective programs are available to families and children. Their efforts make significant positive impacts on the lives of the more than 2,000,000 children and family members that are served each year by the programs they fund. These funds are derived from a variety of sources, including state income tax check-offs; federal funds allocated through the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act; state fund allocations; special fees on marriage licenses, birth certificates, divorce filings, etc.; special events and private funds raised from corporations, foundations and individuals. Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds hold vital and unique roles as combined funders, collaborators, catalysts, implementers and overseers of the largest collective body of child abuse prevention work in the country. The Alliance is governed by an active board of directors consisting of representatives of 14 Children’s Trust and Prevention Funds.
As a partner in the FRIENDS National Resource Center, the Alliance will organize annual CBCAP Grantee Meetings, review and summarize the Annual Reports submitted by CBCAP Lead Agencies each year, create materials on leveraged funding opportunities and provide training and technical assistance to Lead Agencies and their constituents.
