CBCAP programs rely on a variety of areas to build a strong base of support for families and communities in child abuse prevention. FRIENDS has analyzed the field and has compiled a listing of programs and services that should be incorporated for effective programming. Many of these service areas are mandated in the Community Based Grants for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.

Evaluation
The reauthorized Community Based Grants for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect by the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003 places strong emphasis on program accountability and evaluation. Evaluation is a broad term and applies to a continuum of activities that examine how resources are used, how services are delivered and the overall effectiveness of services towards achieving the long-term goal of prevention of child abuse and neglect.

Prevention Programs
Prevention programs are present in a variety of designs around the nation. These programs provide concrete activities for State Lead Agencies to focus efforts on. The programs include:
Child and Family Services Review (CFSR)
Child and Family Services Reviews have completed their first round and are gearing up for a second. FRIENDS has complied information here that will give State Lead Agencies insight into joining into the process. |
